I completely agree that the visuals are what makes Opera, which is why I love it so much and bastardized it for my site. The only indulgent scene I didnt like was the most ambitious with the crows eye view in the theaterI Like Horror Movieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15851268002582984544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2560059111367583638.post-56597958420745267692010-01-07T20:41:55.622-05:002010-01-07T20:41:55.622-05:00*adds Deep Red to Netflix queue**adds Deep Red to Netflix queue*Dom Coccarohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15843380116571749866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2560059111367583638.post-69022080436684574212010-01-07T19:11:02.002-05:002010-01-07T19:11:02.002-05:00Dom - what's up? It has its moments, but its snore inducing!Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2560059111367583638.post-4411515158661345712010-01-07T00:00:55.334-05:002010-01-07T00:00:55.334-05:00My guess is you've mostly seen Argento's p...My guess is you've mostly seen Argento's post-'Opera' films, which only his staunchest fans can bring themselves to defend. I like parts of 'Opera', but along with its predecessor 'Phenomenae' aka 'Creepers', you can see Argento beginning the decline that has defined his career ever since.

If you want to understand why Argento is held in such high regard by many horror fans, myself included, it's because of 'Deep Red', 'Suspiria' (which you already watched), 'Inferno', and 'Tenebrae'. Those are arguably his masterpieces. His early "animal trilogy" is ok if you're used to the usual lapses in logic that are par for the course in giallos, but for my money they aren't any better or worse than the average Italian thriller from the seventies.Bob Igniziohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03630416222197419152noreply@blogger.com
